[Review] Ben Nye Luxury Powder Banana & [FOTD] Re-creating Kim K. – look

Hey hey, Ladies!

How’s your Monday going? Today I’ll review about another famous product, which many beauty blogger already reviewed it, but I just got the chance to try the product by now. This product became popular ’cause Kim Kardashian’s make-up artist used this to contour and set her complexion. I think this is why so many people want to give this product a try and see how this product works on their skin…I mean, who doesn’t want flawless make-up finish like Kim K? or who doesn’t want to put their make-up in the same level as Kim K? 😀

It’s Ben Nye Luxury Powder Banana. Well, actually Ben Nye have more shades of these luxury powder series like Neutral, Cameo, Buff, and many more, but the most popular one is Banana, ’cause Kim K’s make-up artist put Banana to set her concealer and use as highlight. Banana is a shade with dominant yellow base, I thought the coverage would be as yellow as the powder I see in the jar, but after I gave this product a try, the coverage is kind of sheer (still have a little hint of yellow, but almost translucent…suits all skin color!) and effortlessly blends with your foundation or concealer.

Too bad this product came with very bulky packaging and not travel friendly. 1.5 & 3.0 oz sifter jar, even the 1.5 oz still way to bulky and the holes on the sifter are too big and will makes the product come out of the jar easily. So, for more practical use, I always transfer this product into a smaller powder jar. 🙂

Even this product has kind of sheer coverage, but once it completely blended with your make-up base, it will give superrrrrrr matte finish and have great staying power. Since this product is pricey (oops! :p ), I use this product only to set complexion under eyes and T-zone. I’m so impressed with the oil control formula on those spots. Just put a little amount of powder and use stipple blush to apply for super matte and flawless finish. 🙂

With this product I also tried to re-creating Kim K. look…LOL! (Mirror, please?! :p ), I know I can’t be like her. To create the smokey eyes, I need to even my skin around/under eyes out, so I put concealer and set it with Ben Nye Luxury Powder Banana. But, why should re-creating  Kim K. look?  Well, this product became popular because of her, so why not? Her make-up is always that perfect with sexy tan skin, smokey eyes, and nude sensual lips. I mean like every guys out there crazy over her, maybe not her make-up but her body, but who doesn’t want to have perfect make-up like her in every occasions? So with this product, we can have the Kim-K look anytime! 😀

(feel free to laugh or even puke! :)))) )

Pros: Great oil control formula, matte finish, and suits all skin color, fragrance free.

Cons: Damn pricey!!! Contains 3 types of paraben, (but if Kim is okay with that, why should we care? LOL), I wish this product have more subtle coverage.

Have you tried any Ben Nye Luxury Powder, Ladies? 😉

[FOTD] Santa Baby

ImageMERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!!

Even I’m not celebrating Christmas, Christmas will always be my favorite holiday! Where malls decorated with fancy winter theme and playing Christmas carols all day. I always can’t hide my excitement each time I hear cheering Christmas songs like Winter Wonderland, Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree, Sleigh Ride, or Jingle Bell Rock! I can’t help myself singing and dancing on it, sometimes I sing out loud when there’s only instrumental playing of those songs like Karaoke! 😀

When I was little, I also spent my time queuing for a gift from “fake” Santa Claus at the malls with other kids who celebrate it. (Uuu…sneaky!) And taken a pic with him too! My excitement today represents this #FOTD. With red-green color blocking eyeshadow, and gradient lips (you can get the tutorial by clicking here ), I love to play with these Christmas colors! 🙂

Of course you can wear this look to Christmas Party with friends and relatives tonight, bring it on with your favorite dress and shoes, and show them, that you are a truly Santa Baby! 😉

HAPPY HOLIDAY, FOLKS!!!

[FOTD] Bollywood’s Babe

img_20131203_192904

Hey everyone!

This is my 2nd #FOTD on this blog, and I called it “Bollywood’s Babe” look. This look takes me back to my childhood memories, where I grew up watching Bollywood movies e-ve-ry-day after school on local TV channel. I always amazed with how Indian women dress daily in the movies. They wear multicolor “Saree” dress and beautiful jewelry in their forehead called “Bindi” . But you know what? things I envy most from Indian actress is their flat tummy!! And of course their make-ups! 😀

IMG_20131203_195214

Most Indian women gifted with beautiful big round eyes, usually in brown or black. They have very nice nose too (ugh! I hate my flat nose…this makes me look like peaknose cat. Let’s better stop talking about nose. 😦 ) For their make-up signature, Indian women like to wear black eyeliner called “Kajal” (Since some men wear that too, I think it’s the part of their cultures & traditions). This kind of eyeliner also adapted by some cosmetic lines and recently launched their own Kajal product.

Doing Indian eye make-up is kinda tricky for me, since my eye’s shape is not that big. But Kajal feat. black matte eye shadow really helped me to create a pair of dramatic Bollywood eyes. Since my eyelid is not that big like Indian women, when i tried to put full black kajal like the authentic Indian women eye make-up, my eyes became too smokey like panda’s eyes hahaha! Then I re-built the color by adding purple & gold eye shadows to fix it. For the last touch, I wear false eyelashes, cause my own lashes are very short! :p I also learned how to turn Asian eyes into Bollywood eyes from Promise Phan ‘s channel (Aishwarya Rai make-up transformation). The way she transformed herself into Aishwarya Rai inspired me and challenged myself to do this #FOTD.  Anyway, I don’t think this #FOTD ‘s result is “Bollywood enough”, ’cause I still need to learn more and more make-up skills, but I’m quite satisfied with how I made my eyes look bigger this time! 😀

So, somebody wants to dance with me in the rain?

[FOTD] Tropical Mermaid look with Too Faced Summer Eyes palette

Aloha!

Do you still remember, what’s your favorite fairy tale or who’s your favorite Disney’s Princess when you were little? or are you girls just like me, who’s still watching Disney’s channel until now? (I am 26, but still love to watch Disney’s channel. Until now! :D) Well, Little Mermaid will always be my favorite fairy tale and Ariel is my favorite Disney’s Princess ever. Why? because I think a mermaid is an extra ordinary creature, she’s strong; can survive in both water and land, she’s brave, she’s playful, but in other side, she’s feminine and lovely too! In other stories about mermaid, she fought for love and sacrificed herself for someone she loved too. Aww!

Mermaid usually described as long haired princess, with human body and fish tail. But don’t forget that mermaid is kind of amazingly so into fashion creature too, she wears seashell as her bra, starfish as hairpin, and pearls as her jewelry. Sometimes I wish that mermaids were real… Aha! Why not try to turn yourself into one of this inspiring creatures? 😉

This is my very 1st #FOTD on this blog, and inspired by the mermaid fairy tales. This look called “Tropical Mermaid”, represents a mermaid who really loves enjoying sunsets in an exotic tropical beach while exposing her beautiful tanned human skin. I wear Too Faced Summer Eyes palette for this look, but I broke the Glamour Guide – well, rules are meant to be broken, right? :p ’cause I really love doing more experiment with colors. This look combined natural brown lid with pearly pink highlight and gold-blue lower lash line. I also added an extra “statement” for this look by creating “fish tail” with black liquid eyeliner. It’s easy to apply, if you ever done double winged-eyeliner before, I’m sure you can do this too! For tutorial you can see the steps on the picture below. 😉

Too Faced Summer Eyes tutorial

To get more into an exotic Tropical Mermaid look, use bronzer to contour your face and to give extra glow. For your lip, you can wear coral/nude lipstick and coat it with clear lip gloss to get the “wet look” lip. No need extra effort hair do for this look, just naturally untie your hair and show its natural texture and volume. Last, you can put pearl/flower/shell-embellished hair pin! Now you’re done! This look is very easy to follow and I think also wearable, ’cause the eye make up still looks natural as well, but with an extra “statement”! Anyway, I used Too Faced Summer Eyes-replica, but if you own the original one and want try this tutorial, I’m sure your look will be much much better than mine! So, are you ready to live a day as an exotic Tropical Mermaid? 🙂
