“Green make-up base/primer? What will I become after applying this on my face? Hulk? Shrek?” That was the first thing that crossed my mind at the first time I saw green make-up base 1-2 years ago. The texture is nothing special compared with other “normal” shades concealer/foundation products, but this one is just…green! As green as Matcha Latte, or some other products have mint-green color.
If you don’t know about these products before, this green thing actually has exactly the same color correction function with concealer/CC cream, and the main function is to minimize the redness. But why green? Did you know that green is exactly the opposites of red in the color chart? So, green make-up base is the best to minimize the redness, pimples, and other skin breakouts that caused our skin turns red.
Many make-up lines already launched their own green make-up base/primer, but these product are not so popular here yet in Indonesia since all those products are imported (and expensive!). Maybe it’s not so popular yet because people here have no idea what kind of product is this. I saw some Korean make-up lines like Etude House, Laneige, or Missha also launched their own green make-up base/primer – already available in some department stores here if you look for these products. I tried this greeny thing from Laneige (I got a 5 ml travel size…or is it a sample? of this product from an online shop here), and the result turns good. 😉
For the usage, I just put a little in some spots that really need to be covered, spread evenly with concealer brush and ta daaa…it works! This product won’t 100% concealed spots, especially if you got huge pimples like mine. But I think it’s not bad at all since it concealed like 70% and my pimple became less visible. If you have redness all over your face, you can use this product for your entire face too, but I won’t do that! Hahaha…I’m still scared if this product will turns my face into green, or worse…ashy-grey, since my skin is kind of dark. I prefer to combine and wear this product with other foundation/CC cream in “normal” shades.
Since I’m an Asian, and Asian have more yellowish/tanned skin tone – sometimes got redness or skin breakouts too, but very rarely. Maybe these products invented for people with fair skin/Caucasian, but I think these products work not bad at all on my Asian skin, even personally, I don’t think I will use these products too often, IMHO. I still wish some local or affordable drugstore skin care will launched the similar products too, ’cause I really can’t stand the price! 😀
So, what do you think girls, will it be your next must have item in your make-up case like BB/CC cream? 😉
